VACANCY NOTICE

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees seeks to recruit an
Assistant Durable Solutions Officer (Integration) for its office in Bucharest.

Under the supervision of a senior officer, the Assistant Durable Solutions Officer is responsible for consulting with individual refugees, explaining the process and prospects for integration in Romania, and working with the authorities and NGOs to identify strategies, develop services and implement specific actions that assist refugees to integrate.

The Assistant Durable Solutions Officer will liaise with and provide guidance and advice to government authorities, NGOs, refugee community groups, local municipalities and volunteer groups in connection with the establishment and improvement of integration services. S/he will facilitate capacity building, training activities and provision of other support through for example bilateral arrangements involving other countries . The incumbent will facilitate the establishment and operation of integration related networks at local, regional or national level and focal points for integration among key providers either at local, regional or national level. S/he will take all necessary steps to ensure consistency of approach in the integration of resettled refugees and persons recognised as refugees in Romania
The incumbent must have initiative and be able to present proposals and plans on integration
Education requirements.
University degree in social studies with specialization in integration practices.
Minimum of 6 years of relevant working experience in particular relating to the establishment of integration services for foreigners
Strong analytical, communication, inter-personal and advocacy skills
Knowledge of the local language and excellent knowledge of English and/or another relevant UN Language.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Knowledge of the refugee/integration structures in Romania
Knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Access
